Some Random Stuff

Not to much going on this week. Just class and catching up on some reading and my lab that is due in a week and a half. And doing more research for my papers due at the end of the semester. I think I'm halfway through this semester so that's good. Lots of fun. Missing everyone as usual.

Found some stuff while surfing this week.

One of my favorites. It lets you know that your not alone with your thoughts and helps to explain other people. Can be frightening at time so be careful if your feeling depressed but it can also be helpful as well. There are two books out as well if you want to see some of the unpublished stuff.

If you feel like watching some shows. We've been watching a lot of Family Guy as of late. The TV here can suck sometimes. But Lost is on tonight.

Some more pictures.

Just taking a break from writing my paper and decided to post some more pictures from the last week or so.

East Coast Blues and Roots Festival

Wolfmother

They played an excellent set. Ended up about 5 rows from the front. Amazing.

The son of the greatest Reggae legend.

Ziggy Marley
The closest I can get to the late Legend. After it was over it's hard to comprehend who you just saw. It was very cool to see some of my favorite songs played by Ziggy. Truly amazing. Go see him if you ever get a chance.

Our casino in town.

Not sure what kind he is but has a very cool song. I have a little video as well. I'll try and see if I can add it here somehow.

The eastern most point in Australia. Byron Bay.

A dingy on the river.

Our friends at the house. There's probably about 20-30 all over the house. They keep the bugs down and they bark at night. Pretty cool.

That's all for now. Back to my paper.

Yes I'm still here.

Sorry I haven't had any new posts in the past week and a half. My dad came into town for a few days and I've had two assignments due in the past 5 days, each about 10 pages.

I have arrived again at the time when getting 4-5 hours of sleep and working on school stuff for the rest of the caffeine-fueled hours is normal. Oh how nice it is to be a student again. But it's better than working in a dungeon for 8 hours a day. And once I'm done I'll actually enjoy my job.

I'll be taking today off then down to Byron Bay for the festival on Thrs. and Fri. then back to more work. Another 8-10 page paper due on the 16th, so I have to get started writing. I've got most of the article I need I just have to put everything together. It's not as bad as is sounds and at least I'm interested in it rather than in undergrad when I had to write about Canadian-American lit. or Asian civilizations. So this is what it's like when you don't go to a liberal arts school. Much better.

Anyways I 'll post some pictures from when my dad was here. We went to the Queensland Red's rugby game the day he got here, 2 Saturday's ago. My first rugby game live. We had a good time even though they lost by a point. They are the worst team in the Rugby Union but it was still a good game. The Suncorp stadium was very nice as well. Not as big as the one's in the states but very nice with good views from anywhere.

Then my dad and I took a trip up to the home of the Croc. Hunter -- Steve Irwin. They had already taken the shrine down so there are no pictures of that, but the zoo is very cool. Coming from a place where the coolest thing around is a possum, raccoon, or skunk, I was in heaven with the wombats, echidna, koala's and roo's. It's very cool to finally see the animals I've been studying and learning about since I was a little kid.

Yes, you can pet them and they are as soft as they look.

Most people don't know what roo feet look like.

Wallaby, the roo's evolutionary neighbor.

Echidna, one of only two monotreme's (egg laying mammals).

Wombat

Emu - about 5 feet tall.

As cute as they look. You can hold one if you want.

Just chillin' with some food.

What I needed a few days ago.

He's about 13 feet long.

Seen this view on TV hundreds of times. To bad Steve's not in the picture.

Thanks to my dad for coming up for a visit and taking me out for some real food. Hopefully I'll be back sometime to see him and everyone else back in the states. I'm off to the store and then doing nothing for a while.
